Hoffman Center Awarded Grant for Online Program

The Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita has been awarded a $2,600 grant from Tillamook County Cultural Coalition (TCCC) to launch its first on-line programs. The grant came from Oregon Cultural Trust funds that are channeled through TCCC to selected county organizations.

“The Hoffman Center has seen steady attendance at various writing and visual arts workshops, drawing both locals and visitors from along the coast and Portland,” said Vera Wildauer, President of the Hoffman Center board. “The Cultural Coalition grant will enable us to launch ‘Hoff Online’ programs for people who cannot get to our local workshops, as well as for those who want to do even greater in-depth work than a one-day workshop allows.”

The online programs will culminate with optional retreat weekends in Manzanita where the students can meet and interact with instructors and their fellow students.

The first online writing workshops will focus on fiction writing, and are scheduled to start in May. Acclaimed authors Jennie Shortridge and Megan Kruse will conduct separate programs. Both have appeared at the Hoffman Center in the past as part of the Manzanita Writers’ Series.

“We will put out information on the May workshops, as well as additional writing and visual arts programs, in the near future,” said Wildauer. “Interested persons can check our blog — hoffmanblog.org — for details and registration.”
