Clay Artists from the Hoffman Center for the Arts have crafted mugs and cups to sell at the Pine Grove Community House in Manzanita. All proceeds benefit the not-for-profit Clay Studio whose goal is making clay art accessible, welcoming, and affordable to our community.
Creating these mugs and cups is no easy task. Potters shape the mug or cup on the potter’s wheel or by hand, add textures, trim clay, shape and attach handles, and set pieces aside to dry. After bisque firing, potters apply layers of glazes according to their personal aesthetics.
As a studio, everything is done by volunteers including ordering and managing supplies, hosting open studios, teaching classes, firing kilns, mixing glazes, and maintaining the studio.
