The film stars Manzanita resident Amy Steel as the intrepid Ginny Field. She’ll be on hand to discuss the film. The event will also be an early Halloween party, and costumes are encouraged.
Story Line: Mrs. Voorhees is dead, and the infamous Camp Crystal Lake is shut down. However, an unknown assailant is stalking the camp next door. Could it be Mrs. Voorhees’ son Jason who didn’t drown in the lake 30 years before?

We’re excited to show off some of the changes to our performance and gallery spaces, as well as the newly expanded Clay Studio. Plus, you’re invited to explore all sorts of demonstrations of what the Hoffman Center has to offer, including clay, drawing, writing, reading, music, letterpress, mixed media, and book and paper arts. Local businesses and individuals have also generously donated over $1,500 worth of products and services for our fabulous raffle and silent auction prizes. Raffle tickets are just $1 each, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20. All proceeds go to the Hoffman Center Operating Fund.
And that’s not all! Over 20 local artists will be showing and selling their art, including pieces made in the Hoffman Center Clay and Life Drawing Studios, and other art classes. There also will be a display of art by kids in the Outside the Box Arts program.
Did we forget anything? Well, there will be a lemonade stand on the front porch, plus tasty hand baked goods donated by Kim Miller.

Original 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers to be screened on October 30.
The Manzanita Film Series is proud to present The Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1956) on Saturday October 30th at 7pm. Admission is $6 and we are encouraging attendees to dress up in their favorite costumes to add to the festivities. There will be prizes and giveaways all night long.
In this disturbing classic science fiction/ alien invasion film, Kevin McCarthy is Dr. Miles Bennell, a physician who returns to his small town practice to find his town has been taken over by an evil presence. Several of his patients are suffering from the paranoid delusion that their friends or relatives are impostors. The doctor is skeptical at first but then there are too many signs that the people in the town are being replaced by emotionless doppelgangers. When it becomes apparent that he and his finance are the only ones not yet “possessed” they make a desperate escape to get out of town and warn others.
The Manzanita Film Series is a program of the Hoffman Center in Manzanita, Oregon. Films are screened on the 4th weekend of the month through out the year. Admission is $6 and theater concessions, as well as beer and wine, are available for purchase.
