Seeking Volunteer Gardeners

We are seeking additional volunteers to join us in cleaning up and maintaining the beautiful Hoffman Garden for another season.  There will be 10 work parties beginning April 22, 2017 through early November when we ready the Garden for winter.  We work about two hours primarily in the late afternoon, from 3 to 5 PM.  May and July have work parties at the beginning and ending of each month in order to have the Garden looking nice for planned events.  The more people who volunteer the easier the work to maintain our lovely garden. The full schedule of work days is on the Hoffman Calendar.

The first work party is Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1 to 3 PM in honor of Earth Day.

Each work party is ended with food and drink and time to socialize and relax.

Please join us for one or all of the work days.  If you would like additional information or would like to volunteer, please contact Madeline Olson at allanmadeline@aol.com or Karen Babbitt at wcgarden@gmail.com.

Enjoy the Hoffman Gardens

garden volunteerWe’re encouraging community members to enjoy the Hoffman Gardens.

Lloyd and Myrtle Hoffman, long time residents of Manzanita, donated their home to help start a center for arts and culture.  Earlier this year, due to its poor condition, the house was demolished and a dedicated crew of volunteers put in a variety of plantings, led by landscape designer, Karen Babbitt and Hoffman Center board member, Madeline Olson.

Volunteers still tend the Gardens, watering regularly during this spectacular summer weather, and pulling weeds.

The Hoffman Gardens will be made available for activities that fit in with the Hoffman Center’s mission to support artistic, cultural and educational activities, and the library.  Examples include art shows/sales, art classes/workshops, concerts, stage events, or library events.  The Hoffman Gardens will not be available for commercial or private purposes.

If you have an activity you’d like to hold in the Hoffman Gardens–or if you’d like to volunteer–contact us at hoffmancenter@nehalemtel.net and someone from the Gardens Committee will get back to you.  Meanwhile, feel free to wander through and take a peaceful pause from your busy day.
