The Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita will launch a 10-day quilt and fiber arts show, with a special artists’ reception Friday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m.
“The quilt makers and the fiber artists come from our three village communities,” said organizer Doris Bash, owner of Creative Fabrics in Wheeler. “They put their love of color, pattern, design and personality into the mix and the creativity is born.”
“Quilting has become an international pastime and phenomenon, and has exploded into the art world,” she added. “People won’t want to miss this diverse exhibit.”
The works will remain up for viewing at the Center on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Quilters and fiber artisans from Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler and surrounding areas are invited to submit their works for an August show at the Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita. The show will be collaboration between the Center and Creative Fabrics in Wheeler.
Interested artists are asked to provide a photo and size dimensions for their entry. Works can be sold during the show.
The deadline for entry registration is Thursday, Jun. 30, with a limit of two pieces per person. The items will need to be delivered Aug. 2 or 3.
Registration forms are available at Creative Fabrics in Wheeler, or can be downloaded here (in Word) or here in PDF form. Completed Forms and images of the art works should be submitted at Creative Fabrics.
All wall hangings and quilts will need to be ready for hanging. Small quilts and wall hangings (no larger than 24 inches) can be hung with Velcro (strips available at Creative Fabrics). Larger quilts should have a 4” sleeve sewn to the back. Larger wall pieces should have a way to hang on a wall. Tables will be available for displaying dimensional art.
The works will be on display at the Center the weekends of Aug. 5-7 and Aug. 12-14.
